Matthew offers training, supervision and consultancy to any organisations or agencies that work directly with people. He has considerable training experience, gained predominantly in mental health, substance misuse and allied social services; ranging from training volunteers engaging in crisis support to judicial and psychiatrist members of the Parole Board. Bespoke training is offered at basic, intermediate and advanced levels in generic counselling and counselling skills, which can be tailored to meet the needs of anyone from reception staff to fully qualified professionals. Matthew has a particular interest in working with challenging behaviour, engaging 'involuntary' clients and working with issues where there isn't an easy solution, such as bereavement and loss. Sample training packages are available upon request. Fees are competitive and reduced cost training is available to voluntary and not-for-profit organisations.

Matthew runs a variety of workshops for therapists and allied professionals in the principles of existential-phenomenology. These include an ‘introduction to existential psychotherapy’, ‘being with vs. doing in the caring professions’ and ‘an existential approach to dream work’.
